Quick Update

It's been a while since I've updated and for once the reason is NOT because I've been busy. There just hasn't been much Eason news since he was preparing for his Moving On Stage 8 - Shanghai show, which was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008. News on the concert is coming up (I'm waiting to see if clips pop up on youtube) and other news which I probably won't be posting because it's just not very exciting are:
- the 100+ HK artists recording the HK song for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
- more news on the Olympic torchbearers and how they are preparing. if you don't know what's going on with that, read this. it's the same old repetitive stuff that reporters don't mind asking 100 times.

If there is interesting news, such as album info and concert info, I'll post it up as soon as I hear; otherwise, it just means nothing much is going on because Eason is getting ready for the torchbearing event and the 903 live concert immediately following.

"Eason's Moving On Stage 7 - Guangzhou" Photos & Post-Concert Info

Eason Chan made the 7th stop of his world tour on April 19, 2008 in Guangzhou. Although a typhoon warning was in effect, tens of thousands of fans put on their rain gear and showed up to watch the show.

During the show, Eason appeared from the rain shielded stage and performed in the rain along with his fans and he sat on the edge of the stage to be closer to his fans. When it hit 10 o'clock the rain stopped and Eason laughed that the sky is funny, once it hears him singing it stops raining and maybe the sky wants to hear him sing. When performing 浮誇, Eason was standing on top of a 27 foot stage, with the wind and rain blowing, the stage wobbled left and right giving the fans a scare.

Eason originally planned to perform mostly Mandarin songs, but due to the complaints of fans, he ended up singing some more Cantonese songs.

Eason, Jaycee, Josie, Denise Promote Voice Over of "Kung Fu Panda"

On April 22, 2008, Eason Chan, Jaycee Fong, Josie Ho and Denise Ho attended a press conference in Ocean Park Hong Kong for their voice over in the animated film Kung Fu Panda 功夫熊貓. Sam Lee and Jaycee's father Jackie Chan also lent their voices for the animated film. In the animated film, Eason plays the voice of the lead panda Po (阿寶, Ah Bo). Although this is not Eason's first time doing a voice over, he says that it is the most difficult especially when trying to match Cantonese words with the mouth movements of the character.

When asked if he was paid the most, Eason says, "I don't know what others were paid. I also don't have a 'title' unlike Josie who is 'Best Supporting Actress'." Upon hearing that Josie shot back, "He's Asia's Favorite Male Singer." When asked if Eason is seeking a 'title' he says, "I'll let it be, I'm not vying for it, nor do I need it. I am happy as long as viewers who watch the films I'm in says it's good and listeners who listen to my music says it's good."

Eason Chan's newest song Don't Need to Speak 不要說話 is the theme to the upcoming Alex Fong Chung Sun starring film Esquire Runway (aka Mr. Mode) 時尚先生.

Official MV Don't Need to Speak

Don't Need to Speak 不要說話

Composer: Xiao Ke (小柯)
Lyricist: Xiao Ke (小柯)

(Unconfirmed) New Song: "Don't Need to Speak" 不要說話

A new Eason song has appeared on the internet. It is unconfirmed as to whether it will be on his upcoming Mandarin album. Is this another case of leaked Eason songs (i.e. What's Going On...? songs leaked on the internet prior to release)? Here are the lyrics:

Almost Leaving the Industry in 2004, Eason Now Asks "The 1st Eleven Years, What's Next?"

In 2004, Eason Chan was frozen by his former company and his father was involved with legal problems. With his career and family hitting a low at the same time, rumors surfaced that an angry Eason was contemplating leaving the industry for good. As for being where he is today, Eason credits it to "A new life and a daughter to push me forward."

Eason was in Taiwan promoting his latest 'best of' release The 1st Eleven Years 1997-2007 Mandarin Hits (The 1st Eleven Years 然後呢?), the album title and cover created by Eason himself, in late March. When asked what is the meaning of the title, Eason replies, "I have a song titled Ten Years 十年 and thought about naming the album "Eason Chan's Ten Years" but it was too simple. Then I thought about it and realized that the songs range from 1997 to last year (2007), which is 11 years. I also like prime numbers so that's what I named the album."

Looking back at his 11 years in the industry, Eason lets out a sigh. When asked about the high and low of his career, Eason answers, "I have yet to reach a high point in my career, so I can't answer that question. The low point? I first need to thank everyone for their concern, in terms of family my dad's situation has impacted me negatively and positively. As for other situations, it is personal so I'd rather not say."

When he was frozen by EEG in 2004, his father was involved in legal problems at the same time and rumors surfaced that an angry Eason was seriously contemplating leaving the industry for good. Looking back with a positive attitude, Eason responds, "I did not know how to respond to the situation at the time, when someone comes across something new they might not know how to react at first. Nevertheless, I was still hopeful about the world and maybe because I had a new life, a new treasure (his daughter Constance) that pushed me forward."

As for the next 10 years of his career Eason hopes he can perform in a musical, but not an ordinary musical, rather a musical that is has disco, is funky and has outfits that are weird.

Eason's upcoming Mandarin album is expected to be released in June. Always wanting to record an English song, this new album will feature Eason's first recorded English song titled Aren't You Glad.

New Song: "Road...Has Always Been There" 路...一直都在

Eason Chan's newest song Road...Has Always Been There has been plugged. This song is the new theme song to the Johnnie Walker commercials and is the first plug off of Eason to be released Mandarin album.

Road...Has Always Been There 路...一直都在

Composer: Adrian Fu
Lyricist: 吳向飛
Producer: Jim Lee

穿過人潮洶湧燈火欄柵 沒有想過回頭
一段又一段走不完的旅程 甚麼時候能走完

噢..我的 夢代表甚麼 又是甚麼讓我們不安

That's just life 尋找夢裡的未來
That's just life 笑對現實的無奈

That's just life 尋找夢裡的未來
That's just life 笑對現實的無奈

不能後退的時候 不再傍徨的時候
永遠向前 路一直都在

看不清的路又算甚麼 看不清的夢又算甚麼
就算走到盡頭又能算甚麼 能算甚麼

That's just life 尋找夢裡的未來
That's just life 笑對現實的無奈

不能後退的時候 不再傍徨的時候
永遠向前 路一直都在

That's just life 徘徊到不再徘徊
That's just life 重來到不怕重來

没有選擇的時候 不能選擇的時候
永遠向前 路一直都在

Road...Has Always Been There 路...一直都在 (DJ Version)

Hins Cheung held his first Hong Kong Coliseum concerts, Ardently Love Hins Cheung in Concert 2008, between April 5-7, 2008. On April 6, Eason Chan appeared as his guest and the two performed together. That night Eason made fun of Hins, saying that he doesn't look like he comes from Guangzhou, "You look like you from Sichuan because I've seen their panda's and their eyes look just like yours!," he jokes. Eason revealed that Hins was extremely nervous especially after the first show when he forgot some lyrics. "Which singer doesn't mess up during their concert? Just relax, maintain a good state of mind and you'll be fine," Eason advises.

May 2008 903 Live Concert - Interviews

Earlier, Eason Chan, Khalil Fong, Kay Tse and EO2 got together to shoot a promotional poster for the first of three 903 Live Crossover Concert, to be held on May 4, 2008.

The combination of artists is so different and rare it may never be seen again. They were interviewed regarding the rare crossover and the following is what they had to say.

Eason: "The combination is cute, refreshing, unique and thoughtful. The 6 of us men plus Kay, the only woman, is like 6 leaves surrounding a flower. We can all sing and dance and sing any type of song, I am looking forward to this concert." Eason would also like to do a full collaboration as one, something unprecedented, saying, "I would like to try a 7-as-1 combination. Either dancing or singing as one. It would be fun to watch. Even if we sing a simple song it is already very captivating."

Kay: "I enjoy singing background and when I found out Eason also likes singing background I wanted to collaborate with him. I want to try to perform an all background vocal song with him, I can sing the high background vocals and he can sing the low background vocals, I'm sure it would be very special."

Khalil: "Eason and I both like classic songs, so I want to sing a set of classic songs with Eason. I also want to dance with EO2, I personally really like to dance so I hope I can perform some of my idol Michael Jackson's moves."

EO2: EO2 laughs that this is a "singing, composing, dancing good looking men and woman" combination. They hope that they can perform Eason, Khalil and Kay's songs and dance together in hopes to create a great spark.

Kaite Chan is Like a Mother to Eason; "Eason Chan Era"

Katie Chan is Like a Mother

During the Johnnie Walker Keep Walking Promotional event for his upcoming concert (Moving On Stage 7 - Guangzhou) on April 3, 2008, Eason Chan and manager Katie Chan were both on the stage when Eason gave Katie a hug and a kiss. Eason says, "Katie and I have already become close friends and have a mother-son relationship. There are no words that can express my gratitude towards her, I can only express it through a kiss. It is only because of her help that I can focus solely on the onstage performances [and not have to worry about the backstage stuff.] She has suffered a lot behind the scenes and has never complained about it. She doesn't tell me about them, but I am well aware of what she has gone through behind the scenes. She is very much like a mother to me."

"The Eason Chan Era"

After winning 20 awards at Hong Kong 4 Stations at the beginning of the year, someone said that we are entering the "Eason Chan Era." In regards to this, Eason modestly says, "I am just fortunate. The results come from the hard work of all the onstage and backstage crew. The music industry should be blooming, but the current situation is sad to see. There are many other great choices in the Hong Kong music industry. Edmond Leung, Denise Ho, William So and Andy Hui's works are worthy of mentioning." He goes on to say that by listening to other artist's works you can learn something different.

Eason on "JSG" Paying Tribute to Leslie Cheung

On April 2, 2008, Eason Chan, Denise Ho, Daniel Chan and other artists were on TVB Jade Solid Gold to commemorate 5 years after Leslie Cheung's passing. Eason reveals that Leslie once gave him advice that he will always remember, "Leslie told me to stop smoking so I can preserve my voice instead of wasting it. He too was a smoker and maybe because he personally understood the causes of smoking that he tried to give me this advice." During the show Eason performed the song 不求人, which was written especially about Leslie in 2004 by Lin Xi.

Elsewhere, Hilary Tsui was at a Prada store opening and when asked about having another baby, she answers, "It's easy for him to say. Tell him to find someone else to have a baby for him, I'm not having another baby yet."

Capital Artists to Reunite to Fulfill Antia Mui's Wish

Eason Chan reveals that Anita Mui had a wish for the former Capital Artist's artists (who were also New Talent Singing Competition's participants) to create a Capital Artist-New Talent Alumni Association, saying, "Prior to her passing, Anita wanted us to create this alumni association that will gather Capital Artist's artists together. William So and Andy Hui certainly know more about this wish of hers." Eason says he is in the process of gathering the alumni and believes that they will be able to fulfill Anita's wish in the near future.

Earlier at Pal Sinn and Paisley Wu's wedding, Eason bumped into Capital Artist and New Talent Singing Competition 'Si Hing' (師兄)'s Alex To and Lui Fong and while they were talking he took the opportunity to ask them whether creating the alumni would be a good idea. The two of them said they would support the creation of the alumni. Eason also says that Sammi Cheng and Miriam Yeung have already said 'yes' to joining the alumni association and they are currently in the process of creating the association with many more participants expected such as William, Andy and Edmond Leung. When asked whether they will hold a concert to raise funds for a charity, Eason responds, "We will have to see if there is an opening at Hong Kong Coliseum in 2009. We don't have to wait for a tragedy to happen to raise funds, we can raise funds to help society."

BRAND's Chicken Essence Commercial - Part II Video

Here's the commercial for the second shoot of the BRAND's Chicken Essence product line.

Eason Designs 10th Anniversary FENDI Baguette

To celebrate 10 Years of the, Italian designer, Fendi's Baugette line, the company is going worldwide and holding Fendi 10+ Art Exhibition's in various cities. From April 2 - 27, 2008, the Fendi 10+ Art Exhibition will be held in Hong Kong at the The Gallery at Harbour City (海港城美術館展), featuring Hong Kong's well known "fresh minds" (食腦之人) creating their own unique versions of the Fendi Baugette bag. Hong Kong's "fresh minds" include the entertainment industry's Eason Chan, Jan Lamb, Wyman Wong, co-creator of Shrek the Third Raman Hui 許誠毅, Hong Kong photographer, director and graphic designer Wing Shya 夏永康, graphic designer with focus in advertising and brand design Alan Chan 陳幼堅, Taiwanese writer Ruey Lin Chen 陳瑞麟, illustrators Alice Chan, Carrie Chau and makeup artist Rick Chin. The theme of the designs was set as "The Joy of Children."

Eason stayed up late at night to create his exclusive Fendi Baguette design and the final design featured a smiley face with a dream bubble, the line WESHOULDALLDREAMALITTLEMOREOFTEN on the interior of the shoulder strap, and the designer's name Fendi and the Chinese characters 十加 on the back. In a phone interview Eason explains, "I received a package from Fendi, enclosed was a white canvas Fendi Baguette and a box of color pantone. When I saw all the colors I was so happy that I was about to create a color filled bag, but after some more thinking I realized a black and white bag can also be pretty. The theme is 10+, '+' representing 'plus,' so I wrote the Chinese characters 十加 (ten plus) in Chinese calligraphy -- we are Chinese, so East meets West. The front of the bag has a smiley face with a tongue sticking out -- a personal gesture whenever I sign something for a fan. When you open the flap of the bag there is a bubble which represents a 'dream bubble' and is left empty so the future owner of the bag can fill the dream bubble with their own dream. On the interior of the bag's handle is the phrase "we should all dream a little more often" which has always been a phrase I use and representing one should dream a little more and my hope that the world is more colorful, more joyous and filled with happy dreams."

The Hong Kong Fendi 10+ Art Exhibition opened on April 2, 2008 at the The Gallery at Harbour City (海港城美術館展) where the event was star filled.

Miriam Yeung was at the Fendi 10+ Art Exhibition and aside from liking Eason's design, she also admires Carrie Chau's My Girl.My Baguette because the design featured 4 men carrying the bag and presenting it to a woman they love. The design represents a man willing to work hard for a woman, which is a proud representation for women. Miriam says she wants to purchase Eason's bag so she can give it to Hilary Tsui as a birthday gift.
