Eason Performs at Pal Sinn & Paisley Wu's Wedding

After an 11 year relationship, Pal Sinn 單立文 and Paisley Wu 胡蓓蔚 have finally tied the knot on the night of March 28, 2008. Being in the industry for many years, the two have made numerous friends many of which were invited to the wedding, including Eason Chan and wife Hilary Tsui, Miriam Yeung, Joey Yung, Charlene Choi, Hins Cheung, Edmond Leung, Andy Hui, Ronald Cheng, Nancy Wu, Fala Chen, Justin, Leanne Li, Belinda Hammett, Tats Lau and Stephen Chan. Joey, Charlene and Hins reversed roles as Eason, Justin, Joey and Charlene were the "brothers" and Nancy, Fala, Leanna, Belinda and Hins were the "sisters."

Although the pair held a wedding ceremony last night, the two have yet to be officially married. Due to Pal being busy with Eason's concerts, the two have decided to have a ceremony first and will later, when a they find a "good day" (吉日), register their marriage. The atmosphere of the ceremony was great as the singers each took turns to perform on stage with the band.

As believed, to express his love for his wife, Pal especially asked Eason to help him perform the Beatles In My Life. With the violin and piano playing Eason recited 朗讀 (as opposed to sing) the lyrics to the song, leaving Paisley touched. Eason revealed that he was extremely nervous and practiced many times because he didn't want to mess it up and continued to reveal, "Pal was already nervous when we were on tour."

BRAND'S Chicken Essence Commercial, Part II

Eason Chan is at it again, filming another set of commercials for the BRAND'S Chicken Essence product line. This time, Eason is a teacher in 4 characters, where he puts on a wig and glasses to fulfill his roles. During the shoot, Eason was extremely serious and professional and constantly talking to the crew to try and perfect each character, a different side from his usual active and playful self.

During the shoot he had a role opposite a student and when they were not filming the two were talking and laughing, he even guided her by giving her advice and tricks to camera shoots. The crew all praised that Eason had no status-ill effects (i.e. he didn't care who he was and helped her (and others) despite his status). Eason also gave the girl his advice for studying, saying, "I believe that in order to get good grades on exams you don't need a tutor. What you need is enough energy and non-tired eyes, that way everything you read will be absorbed by your brain easily."

"Lost, Indulgence" Withdraws From HKIFF

The Eason Chan guest starring Lost, Indulgence was originally set to premiere at the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) on March 23, 2008, but has now withdrawn from the festival. The reason for the withdrawal is explained as follows.

Three Chinese films have been pulled out of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (Mar 17 – Apr 6) increasing fears that China is tightening censorship following the recent Lust, Caution controversy.

Han Yan's Winds of September – The Chinese Mainland Chapter, Zhang Yibai's Chongqing-set Lost, Indulgence and A Decade of Love, a compilation of ten shorts by ten Hong Kong directors, were set to be world premieres at the festival.

No official reasons were given for their withdrawal, but it is understood that the films have not yet passed the Chinese censors.

Although the films contain nothing obviously controversial - and such a stamp of approval is not required for their Hong Kong screenings - the film-makers are at risk if their films are played without having being cleared by the censors.

There is growing concern that China is exerting a firmer grip on the media ahead of this summer's Beijing Olympics and in view of the recent riots in Tibet.

Winds Of September is a coming-of-age trilogy directed by young directors from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and produced by veteran Hong Kong film-maker Eric Tsang who is the festival's Film-maker in Focus for this year.

Lin Shu-yu's Taiwan chapter already received its world premiere at the festival last Friday while Heiward Mak's Hong Kong chapter is due to screen next Tuesday.

Tsang is also a co-star in Lost, Indulgence which features Hong Kong's Karen Mok and Eason Chan.

The film is scheduled to make it's international premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, 2008.

Admiring Eason: Aska Yang 楊宗緯

Aska Yang 楊宗緯, Taiwanese singer and former One Million Star 超級星光大道 (Taiwan's American Idol) contestant, has become more sensitive and his emotions have become "more wide in variety" after gaining fame.

At the moment, the singer Aska most admires is Eason Chan. What's interesting was while he was doing an interview at a radio station he bumped into Eason, who was in the recording room, and he did what fans of Eason would do -- wait for him outside the recording room door until he finished just to say "hi." Eason praised Aska's singing abilities on the spot, which caused Aska to shy back in an instant; Eason also invited Aska to his upcoming Taipei concert [Moving On Stage 2], where Aska immediately said he would go. They took a couple of pictures together and Aska used the phrase "[you] are extremely nice," saying it 3 times, to describe Eason. Aska says Eason's status in the Chinese music industry is extremely high (他在華人音樂就的地位很崇高) especially when it comes to interpretation of his music, which is a goal of Aska's.

Yesterday, Eason Chan took part in the Ronald McDonald House Charities event, where he played with the children of the Ronald McDonald House and sold some stickers for the charity. When asked if he will have his daughter (Constance Chan) observe and learn about charity work, he answers, "She is only 3 and is too young. I'll wait until she gets a little older." When asked if he will donate all of his daughter's Chinese New Year money to charity, Eason answers, "I don't know, ask her mom (Hilary Tsui) the next time you see her." When asked about the recent influenza virus going around in Hong Kong and whether he was worried about his daughter, he answers, "We shouldn't worry too much about our children catching things because they have their own immune systems to fight germs. What are we (as parents) supposed to do? Lock them inside and never leave the house?"

Eason is Spokesperson for BRAND'S Product

Being successful not only in his career, Eason Chan is also able to take care of his family, himself and his friends while living a great lifestyle, thus establishing himself as a good candidate for being the spokesperson for the BRAND'S Chicken Essence 白蘭氏 雞精 product line.

Eason says he feel everyone plays a different role every day; therefore, having enough energy is important. For the commercial Eason played 8 characters of his own life, a father, who brings his daughter to school and cares for his family; his career, holding concerts and acting; hanging out with friends, eating and playing tennis; and having his own personal interests, such as playing video games and working out. One must have enough energy in order to fulfill each role in life.

Due to a tight schedule, Eason was only able to schedule 2 days for the shoot and each day lasted 14 hours each. Eason was into every character, when playing the role of father, he expelled fatherly love. On set when not shooting, he played games and made faces with the child actress which made her laugh and smile. When he had to shoot the tennis scene, rain started to fall and the air was cold, but that did not dampen his mood. During his resting period, he used the time to work out and play with video games, re-establishing the motto "work hard, play hard." Although the shoots were 14 hours long, Eason did not complain and gave his best to each character, which resulted in the praise of "a true professional" and amazement of energy from the workers on set.

Josie Ho: Audiotraffic's Adrian Sounds Like Eason

Indie rock band Audiotraffic held a press conference at Central District's Cliq on March 8, 2008, where they invited guests Josie Ho, Conroy Chan, Hilary Tsui, Iris Wong, etc. Josie Ho mentions that Audiotraffic helped her prepare for her concert a couple of days ago, which enabled her to have a successful concert. She says, "In the past, I've worked with many different artists. After working with Audiotraffic, I find that we work well together. Their guitar skills are amazing and Adrian (one of the band members) sound like Eason Chan."

Hilary Tsui went to the event without makeup on, later she explained that she had no idea that the media would be present. When asked about what she thought of the band, Hilary says, "Audiotraffic has helped Eason out a lot and we are friends." When told that Josie said the band sounds like Eason, Hilary responds, "Really? But they are tall and good looking." When asked if she would compare Eason to Audiotraffic, she responds, "No. They sing different genres. Eason would like to be like them and sing more rock songs, but is unable to due to the industry's need." When asked if daughter, Constance Chan, has the talent for music, "We'll let things take its natural course. She has personality, when she's happy she's very good, but when she's not happy she will turn cool and her face will turn "black." It's in the genes," Hilary responds.

Eason Shoots "Green" Commercial for McDonalds

Eason Chan shot a commercial for the new McDonald's McCrispy with Tomato sandwich. For the first time Eason appeared dressed as a farmer and personally went to Lau Fau Shan in Yuen Long to a tomato field to shoot in front of the freshest tomatoes.

At 5:30 in the morning, Eason showed up at Lau Fau Shan to prepare for the shoot. To work with the concept of picking tomatoes, Eason brought his own wardrobe of boots and apron and he ended up looking like a cool young chef. In the commercial, Eason brings the audience along to pick the most fresh and most juicy tomatoes. There was a scene where he imagines he is being chased by a giant tomato.

Eason says, "Although the shoot was early, I was delighted when I saw all the large red tomatoes. Being able to be so close to nature, it was a great feeling to feel like being in the countryside and being able to forget about the everyday hectic life of the city."
