Eason Chan Performs 七百年後 in Acappella

Eason Chan attended the weekly TVB Jade Solid Gold music program where his song 七百年後 was number 1 on the charts. He then performed the song in acappella.

七百年後 Acappella

Note: Eason went onto a radio program just a couple of weeks ago where he stated he was unhappy with certain shows cutting his songs short or cutting the intros. He then said that if they were going to shorten his song (his performance), he would be more satisfied if they gave him a time frame where he could perform his song in acappella on his terms. Therefore, there is speculation that this performance was made possible at his request. Speculation only because there is so much positive response to the performance.

Additional Information on "Dream Home"

Fortissimo boards 'Dream Home'
Hong Kong's 852 Films producing pic

By ALI JAAFAR

LONDON — Fortissimo Films has boarded Hong Kong helmer Pang Ho-cheung's slasher pic "Dream Home."

Start-up shingle 852 Films is producing the pic, for which Fortissimo is handling worldwide sales, excluding Hong Kong.

"Dream Home," which is in post-production, stars Josie Ho ("Exiled") and Anthony Wong ("Infernal Affairs"), Eason Chan, Michelle Ye Suen, Lawrence Chou, Derek Tsang, Juno Mak, Sin Lap Man, Wong Ching and Lo Hoi Pang.

Pic tells the story of a young woman, played by Ho, who goes to extreme measures when she can no longer afford her dream home.

"We're hoping with 'Dream Home' to have a repeat of the success we previously enjoyed in the genre zone with the 'Eye' films," commented Fortissimo co-chairman Michael J. Werner.

852 Films was launched earlier this year by Hong Kong-based producers and financiers Conroy Chan, Josie Ho and Andrew Ooi. Shingle is developing a slate of five projects.

Fortissimo Films checks into Pang’s Dream Home

By Liz Shackleton

Fortissimo Films has picked up worldwide rights, excluding Hong Kong, to Pang Ho-cheung’s upcoming slasher film Dream Home, starring Josie Ho.

Produced by start-up outfit 852 Films, the film is in post-production after shooting in Hong Kong. Ho plays a youngwoman who goes to extreme measures when she discovers she can no longer afford the home of her dreams.

Pang has previously directed acclaimed dramas such as Isabella, which screened in competition at Berlin in 2006, and Exodus, which played in competition at San Sebastian.

Anthony Wong, who is known to Western audiences for his role in Infernal Affairs, also stars along with Eason Chan, Michelle Ye, Derek Tsang and Juno Mak.

The deal for worldwide rights was brokered between Fortissimo co-chairman Michael J. Werner and 852 Films principals Conroy Chan and Andrew Ooi.

“We are hoping with Dream Home to have a repeat of the success we previously enjoyed in the genre zone with the Eye films,” said Werner.

Chan and Ooi added: “We are honored to have Fortissimo rep Dream Home and are confident in their passion for this material. The fact that Wouter was very excited when we presented Dream Home to him at Filmart makes this union particularly poignant and it means a lot to us that Michael and his team are also equally supportive of this project.”

Fortissimo co-chairman Wouter Barendrecht passed away in April at his home in Bangkok, just a few weeks after Filmart.

Launched earlier this year, 852 Films is a Hong Kong-based production and financing company set up by Conroy Chan, Josie Ho and Andrew Ooi. It is developing, producing and financing a slate of five films.

Upcoming: 2009 Mandarin EPs & New Cantonese EP

As posted earlier, Eason Chan will release 2 Mandarin EPs, 5 songs each, this year. And as concepted, will incorporate "two different styles from two different shores" with Taiwan's Will Lin 林暐哲 and Beijing's Zhang Ya Dong 張亞東 as producers. Additional and new information on the albums as follows.

North (Zhang Ya Dong as producer):
- experimental album (e.g. Acid Jazz, song types by Lenny Kravitz, UFO, Corduroy, Galliano, Urban Species, etc.)
- Eason wants to write a song

South (Will Lin as producer):
- songs by Tanya Chua, Mavis Fan, Angus Chan & Sodagreen
- Tanya's song is titled 多少 (How Much), lyrics are also by Tanya - according to Eason, this song is awesome! When Tanya finished writing the song, she gave it to Eason and said "This song is for you." After hearing the demo, Eason asked her, "Are you sure you don't want to keep it for yourself?" because the song is THAT good!
- right now, writers are giving Eason songs and Eason is then discussing them with Will Lin, but Will is giving Eason freedom and saying, "as long as you like [the song]"

Eason hopes that the 2 EPs will be released together anywhere between August & September.

Also noted is that Eason is simultaneously working on a new Cantonese EP while working on these Mandarin EPs. It is currently used as a "back-up" in case the Mandarin EPs aren't finished in time. However, Eason prefers to plug all the songs from H3M rather than releasing a new EP, if it comes down to that. However, Eason doesn't mind recording songs in advance.
