Going Up -- Prices That Is

Prices are going up for all things Eason Chan.

1. I don't know if you've noticed, but yesasia.com has jacked up the price of Listen to Eason Chan (Limited Edition version). HMV Hong Kong has maintained their price at 115 HKD (almost 15 USD). If my memory serves me correct, here is the price jacking schedule at yesasia.com (in USD):

Pre-order: $17.29
Worldwide release: $19.49
Now: $21.99

It's strange that I actually remember the prices, but I was actually surprised that HMV was selling it at such a low price so I had to check the price yesasia.com was selling it at. Then yesasia.com pushed it up to $19.49 and I had to check the price HMV was selling it at. Then of course I saw that they changed the album picture and the price of over $20 caught my attention.

That's right, you can count on me to remember all the little things.

2. yesasia.com is not the only one pricing Listen to Eason Chan higher, various record stores in Hong Kong are also pricing the album at a higher price. Certain colors are priced higher, such as red and black, because they are in demand.

3. The album is also being auctioned off at Hong Kong's Yahoo!, at higher than retail value.

My question is, why would you purchase it via auction if you can purchase it from a store at a lower price? Unless you want a black one, where supply is limited because of high demand.

4. On another prices going up note, 2 have asked about the tees being sold for Moving On Stage 1.

According to mingpao (10.25.2007), there will be a limit of 300 tees (exclusively made by Silly Thing) that will be sold only at Hong Kong Coliseum up to the whopping price of 580 HKD (almost 75 USD).

As for the tees that say "Listen to Eason Chan" in a bubble (by Pepe Jeans), those are (for now) exclusively made for promotional purposes and given to record store employees to wear as a form of promotion. If you really, really, really want one, consider checking Hong Kong Yahoo!'s auction to see if you can find one. So far there have been 2 (blue & green) of them put up for auction.

I dont like the SIlly Thing tee, actually I think that looks quite ugly and what a ripoff!

The one I really want is the one that looks just like the album deisgn, withou the bubble, because that was the original tee that Eason wore before.. guess I'll have to customize them myself..

oh man, i actually asked for the black cd when i bought it but they didnt have it (in NY).

i agree, the silly thing tee isn't that nice, i like the employee shirts more. simple is better sometimes :)

i've realized in the past that hmv sold cds at a lower price than yesasia. what's in the "limited edition" that isn't in the regular edition?
