After committing many years to music, Hong Kong singer, Eason Chan, is considering turning his attention towards acting. He felt the change would allow him to stay in the entertainment industry well into the years. Eason felt that there will also be more chances to discover new talents for the industry.Source: yahoo singapore 06.02.2009
Eason confessed that he is not a professional actor. Because of commitments to other areas of work, he lacks the time to fully study and build the characters he portrays. As such, he ends up playing characters closer to his off screen personality most of the time.
To Eason, every film shot is a learning experience. On the sets of Corrupt All Cops, he was able to meet many like-minded people, with a passion for acting. Other than honing his acting skills, he also gained knowledge in other areas as well. Hong Kong writer, Chan Koon Chung's books were recommended to him by Anthony Wong, with whom Eason often discusses books with on set.
Eason commented, "I'll put more time into acting in the future. Singing is dependent on one's state of health (stamina), especially in concerts where you can't rely on others for your own performance. In acting, the performance can be enhanced with acting skills and emotions, there are also stunt doubles. And besides, there are only a handful of singers that last till they are over 70 years old, unlike actors, on the other hand, of which there are quite a number of them!"

aW! Will support Eason, but I prefer him singing though.. ^.^
Was looking for the tiniest of clues that might suggest this is an April's Fools Joke that was horribly late. Guess it simply isn't. Oh well.
As his diehard fan, I suppose I ought to support his decision, and so I should. Even then, am I disappointed. I won't comment much on his acting skills but his singing has certainly influenced the lives of many of his fans, me included of course. Influence sounds a bit ... mild by comparison, to be exact. His songs provided me the drive to carry out my daily activities and stuff, and I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Admittedly, it's unreasonable if he should tailor his decisions to the desires of his fans -- he is no puppet after all. But this is still something I guess people should feel sad over. An exceptional singing talent whose songs carry such immeasurable impact has decided to channel his energies somewhere else. It's rather sad.
Eason, all the best for your future endeavours and may you succeed and leave a legacy in everything you do. Should you suddenly feel the urge to share that unique voice of yours with your fans, feel free to do so. Let's hope your dwindled interest in singing doesn't prevent you from imbuing that amount of passion in your songs which made you the star you are.
