Eason to Wear 1 Million HKD Worth of Gold at Concerts

Starting October 24, 2007, Eason Chan will hold his concerts, Johnnie Walker Keep Walking Eason Chan Moving On Stage 1, for 13 consecutive nights. This past Monday, tickets to the final additional show were sold out in an hour, followed by an announcement that all 13 shows were sold out. Eason, who is known for his ever changing unique image/style, asked friend Wyman Wong to be his artistic director of the concerts. One of the images Wyman created is a gold accessories filled outfit, combining modern fashion with tradition. Chow Tai Fook (周大福) sponsored over 100 ounces and worth 1 million HKD of gold accessories. Eason put on and showcased the Dragon-Phoenix bangles (龍鳳鈪), Dragon-Phoenix chain & plate (龍鳳鏈牌), Gold Pig chain & plate (大金豬牌) and a specially made, about 1.84 kg, pure gold bicycle pants chain.

Because most gold jewelry is made for women's sizes and because Eason's arms are big, Chow Tai Fook spent a month personalizing an extra-large set of gold jewelry for Eason. When Eason put the jewelry on he laughs, "It is very shiny. If I put on a pair of large gold earrings I'll look like a woman getting married."

Eason says he will have to dance with all this gold jewelry during his concerts, but during practices he is very careful not to move his arms too much because he is afraid the jewelry will fly off. He stops to think about it for a second before joking, "If I act like I'm not careful and fling a piece of gold off the stage during each show, I think the audience will be happy. I don't think the sponsor will blame me." Although Eason's thoughts might make the audience happy, it's easier said than done. The sponsor will provide security to protect the jewelry during each show.
