Pictorial
*Opening stage:

*Miss Constance Chan

Remember Constance at Get a Life? Here's a memory jogger in case you forgot:

Notice the special VIP pass she had around her neck in the first picture?
Take a look at this year's pass and take a look at how much she has grown 1 1/2 years after Get a Life (she turned 3 earlier this month):

That's Wyman Wong on the right, in case you didn't know

* Elegance meets men in tutu

2 days before the show we were told Eason would perform ballet with a group of 20 high quality ballerinas, as pictured here:

BUT this was the result:

* Leehom Wang fuses East & West into Chinese music.
Wyman Wong fuses East & West into concert fashion.

You have baggy sweats fused with traditional wedding gold:

You have your traditional rain coat fused with a kimono:

* Crossover: Man or Wife? Man or Horse?

After Eason won Most Popular Commercial Male Lead for his crossover as a woman in a commercial, you had to see this coming:

Only Eason would wear this:

No, your eyes are not deceiving you -- that's a stuffed horse connected to the back of his suit.

* the HUH?!

How did the "hat" manage to stay up and on his head?
I'm guessing it's a balloon filled with helium and attached to his hair.

What is that?
I'm not even going to try and guess what that fabric is.

Reaction

At the end of the night the general consensus was: night 1 was okay. Of course, it comes with giving Eason the benefit of the doubt since it was the first night.

The problems:
1. Everyone was unprepared. The show started half an hour late, changing of the stage took too long, Eason forgot his lyrics, there were volume problems, etc.
2. Too much dead air. Eason fans claim there were too many "insiders" purchasing tickets and those "insiders" are the ones that have the front row seats and are also the boring ones (i.e. they sit and don't make a peep of noise throughout.)
3. The rundown was weird. Since we were led to believe it would be a (some-what) dance concert there were too many slow songs. The placement of the songs were all over the place, with many slow songs between 2 fast songs.
4. The opening stage was beautiful but only used for 3 songs while some of the less glamorous stages were used for more than 3 songs.

The surprises:
1. The opening stage, as shown above.
2. The ballerinas, as shown above.
3. A number of songs Eason performed were unexpected.
4. Rearrangements of some of his classic hits.

Problem 2 pretty much applies to all other events...
Big shots and well-connected people got all the nice tickets, they just sit there with no emotion or reaction whatsoever (they may not even like the performer), their purpose to sit there is to "be seen";
While the real fans who truely care have to sit far far away.... that's really sad.
