After becoming the Grand Media Award winner at the 4 Station Music Awards Ceremonies, reports have surfaced saying that despite making millions (HKD) from his 16 Moving on Stage 1 Concerts in 2007, Eason Chan has not cared for his maternal grandmother who is living by herself in Happy Valley 跑馬地. Reports indicate even if Eason passes by his grandmother's apartment he will not stop in to see her. Also in these reports are statements saying that his wife Hilary Tsui and his maternal grandmother do not get along and even if they see each other they will not acknowledge each other.
During the TVB HD Special premiere event of 現塵世美 on January 22, 2008, Eason specifically states that he will not respond to these reports, but his manager Katie Chan and his assistant Raymond have both spoken up. Through the phone, Katie Chan clarifies to the media that Eason is a good grandson and his grandmother frequently makes soup for him to drink. Katie also clarifies that his grandmother is living alone because she is use to her living environment and does not want any changes. When hearing of such reports, Eason's assistant Raymond was taken aback in surprise and responds that one should not believe news that has no evidence backing, "There is no evidence backing these reports. Eason has a good relationship with his maternal grandmother and he has recently visited his grandmother."

Note: Raymond is the tall guy you frequently see in pictures standing behind Eason when he's in a crowd of people. I believe the correct term for his position is "bodyguard," but in HK they are classified as "assistant."

Though Eason said he will not speak about these reports he does speak with a TVB reporter about them during the TVB event, but he does not speak specifically about the reports. He feels that responding to the reports will be playing into the reports hands and especially since he can't speak into Cantonese with any other news station (due to his contract with TVB) he chooses not to speak about it with any other reporter or news station.
