An Obession With "Orphan" 孤兒仔

You are not "Alone"

A neighborhood residents committee in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province is working to broaden the musical tastes and reduce the volume of an unidentified woman who has reportedly been playing the same song repeatedly for two years.

The tune is "Alone" by Hong Kong Cantopop singer Eason Chan, a mellow popular tune he recorded in the early 2000s.

"I used to like it," said one apartment resident named Chen who lives below the "Alone"-obsessed woman. "But now the song makes me sick when I hear it."

Chen said the neighbors have asked her many times to tone it down, but the Chan devotee refused, saying playing loud music isn't against any law.

With only a few hours break per day from her well-learned melody, wasn't she bored? Didn't she want to listen to anything else? Chen said he asked her.

He said she replied, "It's very beautiful."
